Founded by Eric Dolan in 1990, Atlantic Meats is a long standing company based in Cape Breton.

Beginning as a meat cutter in a local market and working his way to eventually managing the Swift and Gainer’s branch plant here in Sydney, Eric worked in the meat business for most of his life.   When head office shut down the Sydney branch of Gainers, Eric saw an opportunity to use his experience and expertise to open his own business, Atlantic Meat Packers Ltd.

Since Eric’s retirement in 2002, his son Sandy carried on the family business.

Atlantic Meats was once a major producer of salt meats for Cape Breton Island and much of mainland Nova Scotia.  Its’ popularity outgrew our facility and in 2018 we partnered with Bonté Foods, operator of Chris Brothers in New Brunswick to take over the salt meats end of the business.  For salt meat inquires please go to atlanticmeats.ca.
